This powder… y’all this powder was a game changer for me. This setting powder is so finely milled that a little bit goes such a long way, and feels like you don’t have anything on. While this product is a little pricey compared to everything else on this list, it’s worth it.

Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer

This bronzer is my absolute favorite. It applies so smoothly and gives you the best sun-kissed glow that’s perfect for summer. My favorite part of this product is the smell, it’s AMAZING! It smells like the beach in a compact.

Finally, it’s time to finish off your look and set your face in place. This setting spray is one of the best I’ve ever used, the mist is so fine, you can drench your face and it barely feels wet. The best part is that my makeup stayed looking fresh all day long.

The summer months are finally here! All those vacations you’ve been waiting to take all year are just around the corner, and you’re likely going to be spending extra time out in the sun these days. It’s now more important than ever that you give your skin a little extra TLC and make sure you take steps each day to protect it! Here are some ways to give your skin some love and keep it glowing all throughout the summer months!

Pile on the sunscreen

With all the extra sun exposure comes freckles, tans, and sunburns, all of which are signs of sun damage. To keep yourself protected, be sure to put sunscreen all over your face and body first thing in the morning, and reapply every hour if you are going to be in the sun. We recommend using anything SPF 50 or higher.

Use a gel-based cleanser and moisturizer

Add extra fruits and veggies into your diet

Adding fruits and vegetables into your diet is another way to sneak in some extra water throughout the day, and it also helps increase the amount of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants going into your body. Ensuring that you are getting the right nutrients each day will help make you look more alive, give you more energy, lessen the appearance of dark circles (often caused by nutrient deficiencies, like an Iron deficiency), help clear your skin, and improve the elasticity of your skin. Exfoliate often

No matter how much sunscreen you apply, you are still likely to suffer from at least a little bit of sun damage in the summer months. This sun damage can dry out skin, causing it to feel and appear flaky. To aid your skin’s healing process, add in some gentle exfoliation. Adding a gentle scrub will do the trick, or simply using a washcloth is fine as well. Anything to help slough off the dead skin cells that are sitting on the surface will help reveal the newer, softer skin below it. You can also add in a chemical exfoliant, like an AHA or BHA. We recommend the Tatcha Rice Polish, which is a gentle scrub, or The Ordinary 30% AHA + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, which is a chemical exfoliant. Be sure to only exfoliate 2-3 times per week so you do not overdo it, and always make sure you follow up with your moisturizer right after!

Add Vitamin C serum into your skincare routine

The summer months bring sunspots along with them. To help combat sunspots and lessen the darkening of freckles, we suggest adding a Vitamin C serum into your skincare routine. Honey and Oat Face Mask

This is one of my personal favorites because it fits all skin types, the products are natural and its very simple to make! First, you start out with two tea spoons of oats. You can use any brand Quaker oats would probably be your cheapest route but Avenno would be the best brand for your skin. Next you just need to 2 teaspoons of honey, mix all of this together. Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes and then apply to your face. Make sure you put your back and out of the way so the mixture does not get stuck in your hair. Leave the mask on over night. In the morning just simply wash it off and see the results right there!

Milk Cream and Lemon Face Mask

I know this sounds strange but for those out there with dry skin, this mask can do wonders. For this mask you first need to get 1 teaspoon of heavy whipping cream. Now I am not talking about whip cream from a can I’m talking about HEAVY whipping cream. I recommend Organic Valley Heavy Whipping Cream. This can be found at any grocery store. Next you need 1/4 lemon juice this could be any kind however, I always recommend going for the organic route because it is is better for your skin. Mix both ingredients together, leave the mask on over night making sure you have your hair back so there isn’t a mess the next morning. I know these ingredients sound strange; however, the heavy whipping cream is helping moisturize your face while the lemon juice is toning your complexion.

Banana Face Mask

This is another simple to make mask and this one helps oily skin! All you need is one ripe banana, you can keep ripe bananas in the freezer to preserve them if need be. Next you will need 2 teaspoons of honey (preferably organic) and lastly one teaspoon of lemon or orange juice. Mash the banana up and mix the honey in next add the lemon or orange juice whichever you decided to go with. Apply to your face and let it sit for only 15 minutes, the banana helps control the oil while the juice tones your face.

Your Perfect 15-Minute Summer Ab Routine

Summer break is looming over us and many of you must be thinking, “I missed out on Spring Break, how can I get shredded for this summer?” Well the solution is easy and simple. I will break down a quick 15 – minute ab workout that will ensure you can achieve the look you want before summer break creeps up on us.

The Warm – UP

To begin our journey to shredded abs, first you need a good stretch. Stretching out your abdominals is a big part of preventing cramps and injuries, especially if you have taken an extended vacation from these exercises.

Step 1: Lay flat on a hard surface with your stomach facing the ceiling

Step 2: Bring your knees up to your chest.

Step 3: Move your knees from side to side while your chest and stomach remain pointed towards the ceiling. Continue this motion for the first 3 minutes of the ab routine.

Now that you are all loosened up it is time to enter the “Burn Out” phase of our workout routine! Get ready!

The Burn Out

The Burn Out consists of six, two minute ab exercises that are designed to give you a burn that you have never felt before. The most important tip to remember is that there are no breaks in between sets of the “Burn Out” phase of our work out routine. Most importantly these exercises will target the upper, lower, and sides of your abdominal muscles in order to get the perfectly sculpted set of abs you desire.

Exercise #1: Crunches

Now that we have entered the “Burn Out” portion of the workout, we will start with a very familiar ab exercise which are crunches. If you are not familiar with crunches, then simply lay down belly – up on a hard surface, interlock your fingers behind your head, and raise your head up to your chest then bring your head back down to starting position. Repeat this exercise for the remainder of the first two minutes of the “Burn Out”.

Exercise #2: Flutter Kicks

Now that we have reached the second exercise of the “Burn Out” routine, it is time to turn it up a bit! Flutter kicks will allow you to work your lower abdominals. If you are unfamiliar with this exercise then no worries! Simply lay flat on your back just like the previous exercise and place your hands flat alongside yourself. The next step requires you to keep your legs extended forwards. Next raise your legs six inches off the ground. Lastly move your legs up and down, be sure to alternate the movement of each leg. As one leg raises further up the other leg should be retreating resembling how you might kick your legs while swimming. Continue this motion for the next two minutes.

Exercise #3: Elbow Plank

Now that you are feeling the burn, it is time to hold on for dear life or at least hold an elbow plank! Elbow planks are an exercise that allow you to engage the whole six – pack while also substituting as a quick breather for the second half of the “Burn Out”. In order to do this exercise lay down stomach side down, and then raise up using your toes and elbows and hold this pose for the next two minutes. In order to visualize this exercise look at the image below.

Exercise #4: Toe Taps

Now that we are in the home stretch of our workout routine it is time for Toe Taps. Toe Taps are a great exercise to target your obliques or in other words those tough to sculpt side abdominals. Simply lay flat on your back, prop your legs up like you are about to do a crunch and alternately touch your fingers to your toes while keeping your arms straight for the next two minutes.

Exercise #5: Hundreds

Second to last exercise! Here we go guys, the next exercise is called hundreds. Hundreds are another upper abdominal work out that will serve us will in our journey to sculpted abs. In order to do a hundred lay on your back once again, keep your legs raised as if you are going to do a crunch, keep your arms straight out alongside your self. Lastly raise your arms six inches and thrust forward repeatedly for next two minutes.

Exercise #6: Elbow Planks once again!

Finally we have reached the last exercise of our 15 – minute ab workout routine! Be proud that you have made it to the finish line. The reason that elbow planks are popping up again as our final exercise is simply because it engages the whole six – pack and will allow you to cool down.

Quick and Effective Workouts for Busy People

As we all know time is a commodity that we will never get back. That being said, I will show you guys some workouts that you can do anywhere. It doesn’t matter if you’re at home, at the office, at your little brothers soccer game, or even outside waiting for your Uber to come pick you up.

Exercise #1: Calf Raises

The first exercise is called calf raises. Calf raises are an exercise that will help you strengthen and sculpt your calf muscles. All you need to do is find a ledge of some sort or a stair or raised platform, place your toe and heels on the platform and thrust upward and downward. Usually a single set of 15 to 30 will be adequate enough to help build your calf muscles. If you feel a little bit more advanced then add 50 to 100 calf raises.

Exercise #2: Alternating Lunges

The second workout we will talk about is called an alternating lunge. Alternating Lunges are a great exercise because they don’t require any extra equipment, just yourself. All you need to do is stand tall and step outward with one leg and dip the other leg at a 90 degree angle with your knee almost touching the ground. Retreat to starting position and do the same thing with the other leg. A good number of alternating lunges to do in a set in order to see results over time would be anywhere from 10 to 20 lunges. Alternating lunges are a great exercise to help build up muscle strength in your hamstrings and quads.

Exercise #3: Jogging in Place

The third exercise is jogging in place. Jogging in place is a great exercise to help with your cardiovascular system and help build stamina. This is a great exercise in circumstances where you are short on time because you can do it almost anywhere. It is said that sets of 45 seconds to a minute help increase your heart rate and get the blood flow going.

Exercise #4: Wall Push – Ups

The fourth workout are wall push ups. Wall push ups are a great exercise because you don’t have to get down on the floor and get dirty, you can stand upright and still get the same results as a regular push up. All you have to do is stand six inches away from a wall, lean forward on the wall with both hands, make sure your back is diagonally straight with the wall and use exagerated resistance to push down and push up. The further you place your hands apart, the more you will workout your chest and the closer you place your hands together the more you will workout your triceps. Take your pick on which muscle you want to work and get going!

Exercise #5: Squats

The fifth and final workout are called squats. Just like the other exercises squats can be done in any environment. All you have to do is stand up straight make sure your feet are shoulder width apart and drop your butt downward keeping your back straight, your chest and head up. This exercise in particular helps with your quads, hamstring, and core. A sufficient number of squats to see muscle improvement range anywhere from 20 to 30.

As you can see these five exercises alone can fit into any persons schedule no matter how busy, all you need is yourself and a little bit of self motivation to achieve the healthy lifestyle that you want.

Quick On-The-Go Snacks for College Students

We all know that Spring is a busy time of the year. Whether you are finishing up your last semester, planning a fun and exciting Spring Break, or trying to figure out what job or internship you are going to do this summer, you always feel like you are on the go and just trying to get your life together. You may be so busy that when you finally get home at the end of the day you realize, “Have I eaten anything today?”

Or maybe you are the type that is always looking forward to the next time you get to eat. Maybe you are on the go so much that the only options for food are Chick-Fil-A or a bag of chips from the convenience store. After eating these things day in and day out, you realize you hate the way they make you feel and maybe they have caused you to gain weight.

We have all been there. We wear ourselves out on the one snack or meal because it is convenient and does the job. But this is not how eating should be. You should not force yourself to eat junky foods that just end up making you feel gross at the end of the day.

Within the past few weeks, I have decided to put an end to the self-destruction by finding snacks that I can take with me that satisfy my cravings, but also make me feel good after I eat them. Here are a couple of my favorites!

Dark Chocolate Trail Mix Energy Bites

Ingredients: Dark Chocolate, Dried Fruit (I prefer cranberries), and Almonds


  1. Heat chocolate until melted.
  2. Once smooth, use spoon to make a thin round shape with chocolate on parchment paper.
  3. While chocolate is still warm, add your toppings.
  4. Finally, place your treats in the freezer until chocolate is solid.

This is one of my favorite snacks because of the freedom you have. You will never get tired of this snack because of the endless varieties of toppings you can add. Another reason why I love this snack so much is because of the salty and sweet combination with the chocolate and nuts.

S’mores Energy Bites

Ingredients: 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats or gluten-free oats, 1/3 cup finely crushed graham crackers can use gluten-free, 2 tablespoons chia seeds, A pinch of sea salt, 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter  (can use almond butter), 1/4 cup honey, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips, 1/4 cup miniature marshmallows


  1. In a large bowl, combine oats, crushed graham crackers, chia seeds, and salt.
  2. Add the peanut butter, honey, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined and mixture is moist. Gently stir in the mini chocolate chips and miniature marshmallows.
  3. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1-2 tablespoons per ball. Place in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.

This one may have more ingredients, but it is just as easy to make. This one is perfect for days when you will be gone from 9-5 and need something in between lunch and closing time to get you through the rest of the day. I love this recipe because it once again satisfies my salty and sweet cravings and provides so much protein.

With these recipes and many more we can feel good about the snacks we are consuming during our busy day. While this takes more effort than your convenience store snack, your body will thank you. Together, let’s do a better job of being more intentional about the things we put in our bodies and recognizing how it makes us feel!

Easy Meals for College Students

With so many commitments in college, it is hard to find time to make meals that are of good quality and taste delicious. Here are a few that I love to make and eat.

Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken

Ingredients: Boneless, skinless chicken breast, Olive oil, Ranch Dressing, Chipotle Sauce, salt and pepper to taste


  1. Mix the marinade. Combine the olive oil, ranch dressing and chipotle sauce together and whisk until combined. 
  2. Slice the chicken breasts width wise to ensure your chicken is evenly cooked and never undercooked.
  3. Add the chicken to the marinade and allow it to sit turning occasionally for at least one hour, up to 24 hours.
  4. When you are ready to cook, heat your griddle or grill to 400 degrees and cook for 4-6 minutes on each side, or use a meat thermometer reaches an internal temperature to 165 degrees.

I usually prepare broccoli or green beans and mac and cheese or mashed potatoes.

One Pot Tomato Basil Pasta

Ingredients: 1 13.25-ounce box whole wheat linguine, 1 onion, halved and thinly sliced, 4-6 cloves garlic, minced, 2 cups chopped fresh tomatoes (1 pint of grape tomatoes), handful of, basil, chopped, handful of parsley, chopped, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 2 teaspoons salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, pinch of red pepper flakes, 5 cups water, parmesan cheese for serving


  1. Combine all the ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally to submerge the pasta as it softens.
  2. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring and tossing continually (tongs are great for this) for about 8 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and the pasta is cooked.
  3. Serve immediately, topped with parmesan cheese.

Makeup Tips and Tricks

Makeup is something that’s personal to everyone that wears it. For some, it’s an art, a form of expression, a confidence boost, or all the above. Regardless of what makeup means to you, we can all use some tips and tricks to get the most flawless look as possible. In this article, you’ll get all of our tips to make your face makeup Instagram worthy.

Tip 1: Skin prep.

Skin prep is very important; your makeup will only be as good as its base. Your skin prep can be done in 3 easy steps.

  1. Start by washing your face with your preferred cleanser. You want to make sure you’ve removed all the dirt and grime from your skin.
  2. Next, you’ll want to do a quick exfoliation to get rid of any dead skin and dry patches. You can use either a physical exfoliant like the Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub or a chemical exfoliant like the Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel Exfoliant, depending on your preference.

*Bonus: If you want to go the extra mile and get an even smoother base, you can dermaplane your face. Dermaplaning is another form of exfoliation that uses an eyebrow razor, like the Schick silk touch-up razors to remove peach fuzz and dead skin cells.

First, make sure you dry your skin completely. Then make sure you hold your skin taut, and holding the blade flat against your skin, move in short, upward movements to remove peach fuzz. Do this over your entire face (obviously skipping your eyebrows) to achieve a smooth, hairless base. This will help your makeup apply easier and allow it to appear less thick.

  • Finally, you’ll want to apply a good moisturizer. If you have oily skin, we recommend the Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel, or the Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel Cream is a thicker formula that works well on dry skin. Let your moisturizer settle into the skin for 10-20 minutes before you begin makeup application.

Step 2: Foundation and face.

Liquids and Creams

  • First, you’ll want to choose a foundation that works for your skin type; generally, a dewy finish foundation works best for dry skin and matte finish foundation works best for oily skin.
  •  For an even application, a damp beauty blender sponge works best. Lightly bounce the foundation over the skin until you’ve reached your desired coverage.
  • If you have any areas that need extra coverage, use a light layer of concealer and bounce it into the skin with the damp beauty blender the same as you did the foundation.
  • For a natural-looking contour, use a foundation shade about 2-3 shades darker than your natural skin tone. You can see your natural contour line if you make the “fish face”. Draw a line from the top of your ear following the contour line, stopping halfway to the corner of your mouth. You’ll then want to take your beauty blender and bounce/ blend the contour upwards. You never want to blend your contour downwards, or it will give the illusion that your face is sagging.
  • Allow the liquids and creams to dry down. Allowing these products to dry down will allow for a better application of setting powder or other powder products.

Powder Products

Using a light fluffy powder brush, dunk your brush into a translucent loose setting powder. Tap off any excess, and then begin lightly dusting a light layer of the powder over your entire face. Applying a layer of setting powder allows other powders to blend easier, avoiding any patches that may be caused by blushes or bronzers sticking to any tacky spots in your foundation.

Next, if you so desire, using a powder bronzer you can enhance your contour by blending the bronzer powder upwards over your contour.

To easily apply blush in the right spot on your face, look in the mirror and smile. When you smile, the apples of your cheeks will raise allowing you to clearly see the “apple” shape. Lightly blend your blush in a circular motion in this area.

Now it’s time for highlight. Using a small fluffy brush, lightly apply highlight to the cheekbones, the forehead, the tip of the nose, the chin, and the cupid’s bow of your lip.

Step 3: Set.

  • To finish the look, spray a generous layer of setting spray over your entire face, and fan dry. Avoid talking or making any kind of facial expressions during this step to avoid creases.

After a long day, you get home and all you want to do is have a relaxing night in. I know in the past I’ve been so tired I’ve neglected taking care of my skin before going to bed. A nightly skincare routine is one of the most important parts of your day! A long day can do a lot of damage to your skin, but don’t worry here is an easy evening skincare routine!

Remove Your Makeup

First things first take off all your make up from the day. This step is simple and easy use a makeup wipe. For me, personally, I have sensitive skin and I prefer to use the Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes. This brand is for those who have sensitive skin and was voted number one best makeup remover wipes by consumers in 2020. For those of you who don’t have sensitive skin and maybe want to try a different brand I also recommend the Kareway Epille Argan Oil makeup wipes. Whatever your preference is just make sure this is the first step you take in your nightly skincare routine.

End of the Day Cleanser

After we’ve gotten all of today’s makeup off the next step is using a cleanser to really get all the damaging agents off our face from the day. You want to use a nightly cleanser that will not cause irritation and remove all of your skin’s natural oil. CeraVe is a good drug store cleanser brand for dry skin types it is very hydrating face wash. Cetaphil is another good drug store brand cleanser but for oily skin. If you are looking for a cleanser that works a little better and are willing to spend more than I recommend IS Clinical. This cleanser works well on all skin types and is highly recommend by dermatologist. As said in the morning skincare routine wash your face with warm water with your choice of cleanser in a circular motion for 10-60 seconds.

Nighttime Toner

Next we are going to use toner! Toner is a very important part of your nighttime routine. It helps balance PH and moisture levels on your skin. Pixi Skintreats is a good toner for your nightly skin care routine it can be found in most drug stores. When you apply the toner use a cotton ball not a tissue. Cotton ball’s are gently on the skin and perfect when applying toner.

Serum and Lotion

This is where your skin routine gets a little bit more personal and specific for your skin type. If you have any acne or breakouts on your face I highly highly recommend using tea-tree oil. All you need is a little dab on a cotton ball and you are good to go. Tea-tree oil is a natural oil that helps calm redness and swelling. If you are suffering from acne scars or any other scars on your face use Bio-Oil, just like the tea tree oil dab a little onto a cotton ball and put it on your acne scar. After this you must moisturize your face! CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream works wonders. This moisturizer has a non greasy texture and is also recommended by dermatologist.

Drink a Cup of Chamomile Tea

Wait we are almost done just one more step! You need to make you a hot cup of chamomile tea. Chamomile tea is known to have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties in it. Now, your probably wondering what those two things mean or have anything to do with healthy skin. In this post, we are going to walk you through how to create your perfect morning skincare routine that is easy enough to do while you are still a sleep-deprived zombie who hasn’t had their morning coffee.

Drink a Cup of Warm Lemon Water

First things first. Right when you wake up, drink a cup of warm lemon water. This will help jump start your digestion, which will give you natural energy. The lemon also has natural properties which will boost your skin’s glow and make you appear more radiant throughout the day. Hydration is also crucial to having good skin, so drinking water first thing in the morning will help you get a jump on your water consumption.

Wash your Face With a Gentle Cleanser

Next, wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Depending on your skin type, you will want to find a cleanser that works best for you.
